Mini Beehive Candle
Approximately 4cm tall.
Beeswax is a natural byproduct from the hive and our candles are 100% pure beeswax.
Beeswax is only made by honeybees and so the supply can be limited. It also takes a huge amount of energy for a bee to produce beeswax. For each pound of beeswax provided by a honeybee, the bee visits over 30 million flowers. To produce one pound of wax requires the bees to consume about 8-10 pounds of honey. They secrete the beeswax from the underside of their abdomens, and then use the wax to construct a honeycomb. The comb is used to store pollen, honey and brood. Beeswax is a very valuable product. Every year as beekeepers extract honey and remove old brood frames from the hive, they end up with excess wax and this can be used to make candles.
The wax is melted and filtered a number of times before being clean enough to use for beautiful, golden candles. All of our candles are made from our own beeswax.
Beeswax is a dense material that has a natural honey-like scent and beautiful colouring. Every one of our candles is unique. As beeswax candles are 100% natural they do not produce chemicals, toxic byproducts or heavy soot when burned.
So what else makes beeswax candles superior to fellow paraffin candles? As they are a natural product, they are chemical free and non-toxic. Meanwhile, paraffin candles often contain toxic chemicals such as synthetic fragrances and artificial dyes. By choosing beeswax candles, you are limiting your exposure to toxic compounds.
Beeswax candles can actually improve the indoor air quality. They produce negative ions when burned, and those ions help to neutralise pollutants in the air. This helps eliminate dust, odours and mould in the atmosphere, easing allergy and asthma symptoms and improving breathing for anyone nearby.
With materials sourced directly from natural hives, beeswax candles are a much more sustainable option than soy candles (where the soy industry is closely linked to deforestation) or those that contain palm wax.
